Jean Pierre Dubord (b. 1949)
Dubord is French, born in Rouen, and considered one of the great painters of the Rouen school of France. He is known for his post-impressionist style with works painted of scenes of Normandy, Brittany and Venice - and also the Siene river - as his primary subjects. After living in the French countryside for an extended time, he returned to Rouen, the city of his childhood, and painted with great energy and inspiration. He is especially masterful in interpreting not only his home city, but also Paris and the beaches and cliffs along the French coast. His elegant use of the subtleties of light, and his use of tiny strokes to suggest depth and detail make his works quite unique, once one is familiar. His canvases speak to his joy of life, and are uplifting and rhythmic. Dubord’s first exhibition in 1970 earned him great acclaim. In 1985 he received honorable mention at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, as well as many other prizes in the artistic world. He has held exhibition exhibitions in Tokyo, New York, Quebec, Chicago, Palm Beach and Miami, and has had the significant honor of exhibiting at the Salon des Indpendents.
