Decorative Elements - Steel Plate Engravings - Jean Baptiste Arnout
These unusual steel engravings are by Jean Baptiste Arnout, French artist, lithographer and engraver (1788-1873). Arnout the father was known for his engravings capturing exquisite views of Paris as well as the decorative details of important Parisian buildings. These engravings by Arnout the son depict those decorative elements as engravings. These engravings were later hand embeished in Tempera by his son Jules Arnout (1814-1868), a successful engraver, artist and lithographer in his own right. Not only strikingly beautiful and historically valuable, but they represent three generations of Arnout artists! Published in Paris by the famous Imprimerie Lemercier. This group of unique engravings is 12.5" x 19" each, with vertical orientation. We have another few that measure 12" x 17" with horizontal orientation. Price per each, no two alike, sold seperately.
