A Village Scene - Adam Baltatu
Adam Baluatu (1899-1979) was a Romanian artist, and is widely considered to be one of the major East European impressionist artists. He attended the Beaux Arts School in Iasi, Romani. moving to Bukarest when he earned a scholorship to the Superir Fine Arts Institue in Rome, Italy. He was a mmeber of the Fine Arts Academy in Bukarest, and exhibited at the presigious Paris Athenee in 1933, 1935, 1936, 1940, and 1942. Today his works are present in major European museums and private collections. This work is oil in board, signed lower left in it’s original frame - note the excellent brush work in the signature photograph. Soothing to the eye and soft in tone, this is a charming, smaller scale piece that can be beautifully displayed in many settings.
