The Italian Ricciardi (1892-1973) settled in Pennsylvania to continue his art studies at the Philadelphia Sketch Club. He then enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts at a heady time - where he was trained by Cecilia Beux, Robert Henri and Leopold Seiffert. He opened a studio on Pine Street in Philadelphia, often travelling to nearby New England where dock scenes and harbors served as his muses. This example of such a scene is oil on board, signed lower right, in original mid-century frame. He was a mmber of the Philadelphia Sketch Club and the Philadelphia Art Alliance. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Academy of Design and the Pennsylvania Academy.
