Giverney - Max Agostini

Frenchman Max Michel Agostini (1914-1977) studied at the famed Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he acquired his training in painting. He worked as a painter in Paris and later moved to the Creuse and Midi regions of France. Demonstrating his lifelong optimism, he showed no interest in artistic movements that were springing up at the beginning of the 20th century. Rather, he was one of the painters who saw to create a more peaceful and harmonious world through art. His boyant approach took full range of themes, including portraits, landscapes, still lifes and seascapes. His palette was inspired by impressionism but his post-impressionistic strength in brush strokes always took on a positive world view. He exhibited regularly from 1974 primarily in the Gallerie Martin-Caille Matignon, Paris. This exciting work is oil on canvas, signed lower right. Of excellent composition, we get to view the home and famous garden of Agostini's idol, Vincent Van Gogh.

Measurements 32x26 with frame, 25x19.5 without.
