Cotes d'Azure Promenade - Charles Nicod
This Charles Nicod (1878-1967) oil on canvas is signed lower right. He was an originally trained and employed as an architect, but began dedicating himself to painting with great passion and promise in his 40’s! Entering the superb Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, he was influenced by Deglane, and graduated in 1928. Just three years later, he bacame the Dean of the fine arts and architecture department there, where he remained for over 20 years. He was a remarkable artist and one of the most decorated in both painting and architecture, living to nearly 90 years of age. We are truly pleased to present this inspired depiction of the French Riviera - a lush example of post-impressionist work with it’s distinctive abstract qualities and excellent depiction of light.
