Paris in the Mist - Georges Regnault
Oil on canvas by Georges Regnault (1888-1979) with original frontal name plaque in place and signed lower left. Regnault was a French artist, born in Bougival, who considered himself to be the last of the impressionionists. His style has a dreamy quality, and his brushwork is honed to perfection. This painting is simply masterful. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1961 and was awarded the rank of Officer of the Order in 1970. He also founded of the Bougival Academy of Painting (1973) and exhibited at the Salon des Peintres in 1978.
