River Landscape - Henri Delpy
This oil on board, signed lower left is in it’s original frame, is by Henri Delpy (1877-1957). Franch, and born in Bois-le-Roi, he studied with his father, the important landscape painter Hippolyte-Camille Delpy. In 1900 he exhibited at the Expo Universelle. He also exhibited at the Salon des Independants where he was handsomely decorated with awards in 1927, 1944, 1945 and 1946. He was a member of the Societe du Salon des Artistes Francais. Today his works are present in numberous European museums and private collections. This is a stunning work - calm and yet striking with harmonious hues of blue, purple and green. Note the beautifully rendered colors of the sky reflected in the water. This is quite a large work.
