Delarue would eventually become a member of the French Watercolor Society and the Salon des Artistes Francais. He was truly gifted and had an eye for color combinations and working with light and reflection - he began winning awards for his art at an early age, garnering a first place prize at the Salon Violet. He was a member of the French Watercolour Society and the Salon des Artistes Francaise. In 1952 he won first prize at the Salon Violet.
