Sunset on the Harbor - Duncan Fraser McLea
This excellent oil on canvas is by Duncan Fraser McLea (1841-1916), Scottish. He is a well known Scottish marine and landscape artist, very active during the Victorian era. He exhibited in Northumbria Scotland at the Royal Central Exchange Art Gallery, the Berwick Club and the South Shields Art Club. He was elected as a member of the prestigious Royal Academy in 1878. Note the signature photo, which gives a better idea of the colors that are evident in the piece. The work is signed lower left in the original frame, and has a soft glow that would be beguiling in a bedroom, living room or library setting.
