If you lean toward contemporary or modern art, we are betting that Emile Courtin (1923-1997) will delight you both! Considered one of the best French modernist painters. Cortin was born in Authon-du-Perche at a transformational time in European art. He studied at the prestigious Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris Under the famed Jean Dupas, whose work defined the art deco movement. Cortin graduated from the important art school Casa de Valezquez in Madrid, where he was undoubtedly influenced by the Spanish art scene as well. He went onto win numerous prizes and awards at different Paris Art Salons upon his return to France. Celebrated internationally, his daring use of color and proportion was riotous then and stands out as audacious even today. The color of his work can only be appreciated with the naked eye!
