French Garden - Leon Lacas
Leon Lacas (1890-1960), was born in Marseille where he began his life’s work of painting sched of his native land. He moved to Paris where he quickly gained notoriety for his exhuberant post-impressionist style which we see richly displayed in this piece. In Paris, he exhibited at all the major Paris Art Salons, and between 1951 and 1955 he earned honorable mention at both the Salon d’Automne and the Salon des Artists, very prestigious recongition indeed! This work is oil on canvas, signed lower right, in original frame.
