Grands Boulevards of Paris - Emile Boyer
Emil Boyer (1877-1948) started as an art dealer in Paris at the Place du Tertre. He began to paint in 1913, showing early influence by Modigliani whom he befriended. Later influence by Leonardo Foujita is also evident in his work, and his fabulous portrait of Foujita is now hanging in the Nsational Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo. He exhibited at the Cheron Gallery in 1922 as well as the Musee de Montmartre, which held a private exhibition in 1973. His work has such appeal, that his work has been purchased by notables such as Princess Aga Khan, Wilhelm Uhde and Princess Murat. This Impressionist oil on canvas of the famous neighrbook in Paris, stll known for nighlife and hip clubs, is signed lower left in the original frame.
