Autumn in Yonne - Henri Therme
Full on color and dynamism in this spectacular mid-century oil on canvas by Frenchman Henri Therme (1900-1973). Born in Le Creusot, he attended La Academie des Beaux Arts in Paris, then the Academy of Montmartre where he studied under Yvan Cerf, Jean Puy and Charles Camoin, with Cerf being the center figure in his shift to the style of Cubism. Terme was the president of the Society of Friends of the Arts of Yonne. His work is now considered a fusion of cubism and fauvism, with it’s strong colors which were a reaction to the softness of impressionism. The piece is signed lower right in original frame.

Condition: Very Good.
