Purity of classical beauty by Frenchman Claude Nozzerine (1804-1878). Oil on board, signed lower center-left in original frame. Nozzerine lived and studied his craft in France, where he followed in the footsteps of Poussin and Claude, painting in nature. He took inspiration from the lovely forest of Fontainbleau, where he painted primarily Renaissance scenes with a romantic sensibility. In 1902 his works were exhibited a the Louvre in the “Barbison- A French Tradition”. What an honor to be selected for this prestigious exhibit!
