It is oil on canvas, signed lower right with a frontal name plaque, in an excellent original frame that befits the quality. Charavel was born in Marseille, France. He attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts before moving to Paris, where he was a pupil of Leon Bonnet before attending the Ecole Nationale Superiore des Beaux Arts. Influenced by Henri Matisse, Paul Signac and Albert Marquet (he eventually met Marquet while painting in San Tropez), he was elected to the Adademic Society of Saint-Quentin for artistic merit, and is now present in all major art indices.
