The highly collectible Albert Malet (1912-1986) was born in Rouen, France. His talent was evident as a young man. Influenced by Corot, he was soon considered the head of the Rouen Art School. He painted regularly with artists of the school such as Narisse Guilert and Maurice Louvrier and other leading painters of the day. He was a member of the Comite des Peintres Normandes and the Society des Artistes Rouennais and also exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The French president gifted one of his paintings to US President Ronald Reagan! This larger scale, richly colored work is oil on canvas, signed lower left in original frame.
