Boats on Brugges Canal - Henri Helis
This is a lovely oil on canvas in original frame with an authentication of the studio label on verso. Henri Helis was French a pupil of Victor Henry. Known as an impressionist plein-en-air artist he exhibited at the Salon des Independants in 1897 and where he became a committee member in 1900. In 1901 exhibited at the Salon des Artists and the Salon d'Automne. He became a member of the Salon d'Hiver in 1913. He was also a member of Artist group Nevers and Duneden in New Zealand. This post impressionist work approaches Pointilism, but has a style all it's own.
