William Shayer Jr. was a fine English painter from a family of the same. Born in London, son of artist William Shayer (1787-1897), the Younger was also brother to 3 other artists. He exhibited at an early age at the Royal Academy and, in 1872, the British Institute held a solo exhibition featuring his work. Shayer was widely considered one of the better Victorian painters at the end of the 19th Century. We are lucky to obtain it, and are thrilled to be able to present this piece at an amazing price; his work is quite desirable and valuable.
