Sunset on the River - Henry Eugene Delacroix
This oil on board, signed lower left (partial) is in it’s fabulous original frame, is by Henry Delacroix (1845-1930). He attended l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he studied under Alexandre Cabanel. He was much-appreciated in his time, having exhibited at the Paris Salons frequently, starting in 1873 all the way to 1925. In 1889 he received the Silver Medal at the Exposition Universelle. In 1894 Delacroix was awarded the prestigious Legion of Honor. He opened an art studio at 22 rue de Douai in Paris that functioned for over 40 years. His unique and impressive works are present in major muleums such as the Musee de Cahors Henri Martin and the Musee d'art Roger-Quillot just to name a few.
