Roman Bridge in Sienna - Pierre Dellile
Pierre Dellile (1896-1987) was born in the Provence region of France. He began painting at a very early age, training his eye as an apprentice in a printing workshop that produced artistic plates. When he finally moved to Paris in 1955, he enjoyed great success, exhibiting in numerous Paris Art Salons of the day, often showing his works which he painted by memory. Dellile finally returned to the south of France where he painted on commission until late in life. The city of Aix-en-Provence retains a large collection of his works. This truly stunning piece is oil on canvas, signed lower right in the original frame.
