Spanish Garden - Juliette de Reul
Juliette de Reaul was an accomplished Belgian/French artist, educated at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. She was known for her vibrant colors and masterful technique - she is universally considered one of the pioneers in the woman’s art movement in Europe. In 1890, she moved to Montmartre where she was influenced by Edgar Degas and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. She joined l’Ecole de Wissant, an artist community in Northern France, where she met her future husband, artistic painter Fernand Stievenart. Her works were exhibited in major galleries in Paris London and New York. This painting is oil on canvas, with studio cachet on verso. Note the beautiful period frame.
